Testimonial Match

Exeter City will honour club legend, and captain, Pierce Sweeney as they host Swansea City in Pierce Sweeney's Testimonial Match.
2025/26 will mark a 10th year as a Grecian for ‘our Sweenz,’ a player who embodies everything about this great football club. A man who understands what it means to a Grecian.
A role model on and off the pitch, a promotion winner, the club’s #HerGameToo advocate, a player who has stepped up in the difficult times and a true legend in EX4, you will be hard pressed to find anyone who has a bad word to say about the Irishman. Joining as a young pup as the 1931 Fund player in 2016, having paid for his own flight over from Ireland for his trial, Sweeney has gone on to become the Grecians 7th most all-time appearance holder in the Football League with 340 outings in red and white, with a total of 391 appearances to date in all competitions.
Believe it or not he’s registered 22 goals for the club – though we’ll all remember how it should have been 23 had he not missed that penalty against Notts County that would have been a hat-trick strike back in 2018.
Join us to honour a true legend and see the lads in action for one final time ahead of the 2025/26 League One season, with the fixture being the last friendly match before the season kicks-off.
